ChatGPT Welcomes Itself to the Workspace

I think we can all agree that ChatGPT's entry into the corporate arena is a pivotal moment in the AI industry.

It’s been a long time coming.

With more business leaders looking for a “simple and safe way” of deploying AI in their organization, OpenAI has been working to give them exactly what they’ve been seeking: “The most powerful version of ChatGPT yet.

“Today marks another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is customized for your organization, and that protects your company data.”

OpenAI team

Here's the lowdown of what sets ChatGPT Enterprise apart from the standard version:

🏆 Golden Nuggets

  • What every serious company was expecting: compliance with security standards like AES 256 and SOC 2.

  • Improved performance for enterprises: runs 2x faster and offers a 32k context window that allows 4x larger inputs.

  • What we consider the penny for the dollar: unlimited access to data analysis (formerly Code Interpreter).

  • ChatGPT Enterprise allows organizations to personalize the bot with their own company data, and provides admin console, SSO, and more enterprise requirements.

  • OpenAI promised that the new enterprise version doesn’t train on user data.

“You own and control your business data in ChatGPT Enterprise. We do not train on your business data or conversations, and our models don’t learn from your usage.”

*pinky swear* — (just kidding)

💡 Best Use Cases — More Than Just a Chatbot

“Early users of ChatGPT Enterprise—industry leaders like Block, Canva, Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies, PwC, and Zapier—are redefining how they operate and are using ChatGPT to craft clearer communications, accelerate coding tasks, rapidly explore answers to complex business questions, assist with creative work, and much more.”

This is what you should be thinking about when leveraging a powerful enterprise-grade tool like this.

That’s fine, we all know how to leverage ChatGPT at this point.

So what’s the real disruptor here?

We believe that Code Interpreter is the real game-changer for enterprises. Why?

The speed at which you can now do data analysis is the biggest ROI you’ll get. Projects that before took weeks or months, now are ready in hours.

You won’t need data engineering anymore, it will be all about promoters.

And that's a lot less money than having a data scientist team.

Creating great prompts for your company that become scripts and procedures, is going to be the real game changer.

Even OpenAI computer scientist Andrej Karpathy got excited with this advanced feature, which he said could evolve into a “new kind of Spreadsheets++

Btw, if you want a complete founders guide on this awesome tool, Benson’s Code Interpreter Deep Dive will give you all the deets — and pre-register to our upcoming Code Interpreter Founders Masterclass.

A Double-Edged Sword of Automation: Potential for Savings and the Real Costs Unveiled

One big perk of automation is that it can help businesses break into new markets and develop new products and services.

Another selling point for ChatGPT Enterprise is that it could cut staffing costs by automating tasks traditionally performed by humans.

On paper, that sounds like a money-saver, right?

But hold on a sec — in a recent podcast we recorded with our Co-Founder Andrew, he threw a curveball.

We don't really know how much we're saving yet because OpenAI's keeping mum on the enterprise pricing. Makes you wonder?

Get this: Andrew did some number-crunching. And his company figured that replacing a customer service team of 6-7 reps, that would cover 24/7, costs about $8,000 a month.

Having ChatGPT handle the same volume and quality of conversations would cost $40,000.

This is 5x more. This means that against public perception, this technology is not fully scalable in certain aspects.

Other AI Limitations: More Than Meets the Eye

Despite the potential for reducing the workforce, AI technologies like ChatGPT still have limitations, such as providing inaccurate or "hallucinated" answers.

In our upcoming podcast, Andrew and Benson also weighed in on some hot topics around ChatGPT Enterprise:

  • Security Issues: Big companies have been hesitant to jump on the ChatGPT train due to security worries. How well does the enterprise version ease those fears? Is enhanced security enough to sway skeptical enterprises? Or are companies still on the fence?

  • Influence & Adoption: ChatGPT’s got a certain "cool factor," but is that enough to get companies on board and drive adoption? Or do the nuts and bolts of cost and security still hold more weight?

  • The Microsoft Puzzle: Here's a head-scratcher—ChatGPT is owned by Microsoft but competes with other Microsoft products like Bing Chat and Azure. What's the game plan here, and what does it mean for businesses trying to pick a side?

Watch out for our podcast episode, where we'll break all this down even further. 😉

Unlocking ChatGPT Enterprise’s Potential

So, how big of a deal is ChatGPT Enterprise?

As OpenAI states, it took just nine months for ChatGPT to reach over 80% of Fortune 500 companies.

This may seem impressive at first glance, but it is mentioned further below that this is based on OpenAI’s analysis of registered accounts with corporate email domains — aka [email protected] and [email protected] registered and they count that for the stats.

But let's pump the brakes for a second and play devil's advocate.

Our take is that the real companies are not using the product. It was just individuals from those Fortune 500 that once registered but probably aren't using anymore due to privacy issues up to this point.

There is a good case for OpenAI’s success, tho.

A lot of experts are saying that ChatGPT Enterprise is well-positioned to capitalize on all this potential growth.

This may be in part due to the 400 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) globally. If 1% decide to give it a go, that's 4 million businesses!

What's Cooking at OpenAI

OpenAI has some exciting updates in the pipeline to make ChatGPT Enterprise even more versatile:

  • Customization: This will allow companies to enhance ChatGPT's knowledge by integrating their own data through the applications they are already using.

  • Availability for all team sizes: OpenAI is working on a self-serve ChatGPT Business offering that will be suitable for smaller teams.

  • Power tools: OpenAI is developing more advanced versions of data analysis and browsing tools that are optimized for work purposes.

  • Solutions for your function: OpenAI plans to release more tools that are tailored to specific roles, such as data analysts, marketers, customer support, and others.

  • App Store: Wes Roth also threw in some speculation about OpenAI potentially launching its own App Store, which could broaden ChatGPT Enterprise's reach and versatility.

Most Impactful Tools of The Week: Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI and Azure Cognitive Search

If you're not on the ChatGPT Enterprise train yet, this dynamic duo can be a compelling alternative, especially for businesses that already have a strong foothold in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Azure OpenAI can help you interact with OpenAI models, including ChatGPT, right within the Microsoft Azure platform.

On the other hand, Azure Cognitive Search is like a search engine on steroids. It sifts through your data to find exactly what you need, when you need it.

💰 Impact On Your Business

  • Time: Cut down hours spent on data analysis.

  • Efficiency: Get accurate, personalized responses instantly.

  • Cost: No need for a separate data analysis tool; it's all here.

⚒️ Actionable Steps:

Watch this video series that will help you setup and deploy Azure OpenAI’s Service with your own enterprise data.

💡 Best Use Cases

  • Software Companies: Automate customer support, pulling data directly from your FAQs or documentation.

  • D2C Brands: Personalize customer interactions based on past purchase data.

  • Agencies: Instantly pull up campaign performance metrics during client meetings.
